Have you played in a Tournament yet?
If you’re like the majority of amateur golfers around the country, you have probably never played in a tournament format, barring the occasional 4-man scramble, which is usually more of a drinking contest than a golf tournament. (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
Although our chances of playing on “tour” are slim-to-none, competitive tournaments do give us, the ordinary weekend warriors, an opportunity to experience the pressures, disappointments, and thrills of tournament golf.
Not every tournament on the CSGA schedule requires a low-handicap. Many tournaments are “gross” & “net”, which means all you need is a CSGA updated handicap, which can be attained at your local course or golf store. Still anxious about entering? Try a team event and experience the excitement with your weekend golf buddy.
I would recommend one of the CSGA One-Day tournaments for beginners. The only draw back is that these tournaments are held on Mondays so you might be forced to take a day off from work. Bummer!
Once you enter your first tournament you might just become addicted…
