1. Sign up for mailing lists at your favorite golf courses.

They email newsletters regularly and golfers should take advantage. Lyman Orchards is a perfect example.

2. Obtain a USGA handicap card.

If you are not a member of your courses men’s club sign up online or go to your local Golf Galaxy or Golfers Warehouse. It only costs $20-$40 and your playing partners will appreciate an official handicap, plus tournaments are fun to play…

3. Play fast but don’t rush.

You paid a good amount of money to play golf so take a practice swing and get a solid read on that putt. Just try to avoid multiple mulligans and Tiger like preparation for each putt.

4. Give your buddy that 2 footer.

Nothing ruins or slows up a round more than making your friend grind out those short putts. Of course if money is at stake, by all means make him shake!

5. Play it as it lies.

Golf is meant to be played out of the rough, sand, and trees. Don’t mask your true score or ability. You’ll never truly improve if every shot is off a perfect lie.

6. Enjoy a weekday stroll.

Weekends are tough, but walking the course during the week provides great exercise and is also a great way to save some dough for your weekend matches.

7. If its okay with your significant other, push those weekend tee times to the afternoon.

On an average you will save 30-60 minutes off your round and you can utilize your 2008 CTFG Golf Discount Card to accumulate terrific savings!

8. Head over to the chipping and putting area and work on your short game.

Golf manufactures have yet to develop ultra forgiving putters and wedges so spend a little less time with that new steroid infused driver at the range.

9. Make sure to logon to CTFoodandGolf.com and rate your experiences.

We want to know your opinions on Connecticut courses and so does everyone else, so ante up and give us the scoop.

10. Hit it straight and putt it true!!!
